Software Audio Workshop (SAW) Plus

Musical Harmony from Your PC

Software Audio Workshop (SAW) Plus extends the power of digital audio editing and recording to 32 simultaneous tracks (16 mono or 16 stereo). You can achieve live playback on all 32 tracks using any Windows sound card and no additional proprietary hardware.

SAW Plus provides automatic live blending of different file formats, such as mono, stereo, 8 bit and 16 bit. You can mix formats and adjust volume, pans, mutes and solos during playback. SAW Plus' drag-and-drop features and 3-D graphics make for easier editing. A remote panel allows control of SAW Plus from any application, and it supports four stereo sound cards and eight inputs and outputs. Like its predecessor SAW 3.0, SAW Plus supports .WAV and .SND files, but the MultiTrack window in SAW Plus actually shows you the .WAV form.

Kurzweil Voice Release 1.5

Speak Easier and Be Heard

Nearly everyone agreed early voice recognition programs needed improvement, and Kurzweil Applied Intelligence was listening. Kurzweil Voice Release 1.5 has been enhanced with a larger active vocabulary and features that make it easier to use. You can choose a 30,000- or 60,000-word active vocabulary. The program works without voice training. Its new continuous digit recognizer lets you enter numbers more efficiently, and its discrete speech recognition engine requires a sixth-of-a-second pause between words.

With sound board and microphone, $995; software only, $695; upgrade, $295.
